This network is funded by the FRSQ (Fonds de Recherche en Santé du Québec) within the theme networks it created to develop a greater synergy among researchers from different environments that are working in fields that have been identified as health priorities for Québec.

The network's director is Dr Jean-Claude Tardif from the Montreal Heart Institute.

The RSCV's objectives are :

1. Promote collaboration for furthering studies on cardiovascular disease.
   
   
2. Promote scientific exchanges among researchers from Québec's clinical and research institutions.
   
   
3. Provide for the development of research infrastructures favouring collaboration among Québec university researchers.
   
   
4. Provide infrastructures to boost the competitiveness of Québec researchers.
   
   
5. Provide structures promoting cardiovascular research opportunities in Québec.
